Personal Information:

• Kelvin Lam was born in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.
  
• He was not given a cool Chinese middle name upon birth. Instead, written as a middle name on his birth certificate is Martin. (Sigh!)
  
• He is clearly male.
  
• His name is often pronounced "Calvin" as in Calvin & Hobbes. This is wrong. There is a distinct e sound in his name.
  

Educational Information:

• He is currently entering his second full year of university at the University of British Columbia
  
• He plans to graduate from the Faculty of Sciences and attain a degree in Microbiology.
  
• After attaining an undergraduate degree, he hopes to further his studies in medicine.
• He is deeply influenced by his former piano teacher, Merrill Nixon. Music is also a strong option for him.
  
• He graduated highschool at Point Grey Secondary School with Honours.
  
• While attending Point Grey, he participated in the Career Preparation Program. He committed himself to 120 hours of volunteer work at 3 accounting firms.
• He has attained a Diploma for Performer's ARCT from The Royal Conservatory of Music. To attain this, all theory and practical requirements must be fulfilled.
  
• He is currently a piano instructor and theory tutor. He is willing to answer any questions you may have regarding the piano or music in general. He is always looking for new students. =)
  

Entertainment Information:

• Having been employed in a video store for 2 years, he has developed a decent sense of a good movie.
  
• His job mainly consisted of customer service, walking along the aisle's and helping all customers with suggestions.
  
• His most current favorite movie is the Shawshank Redemption.
  
• The movies listed in his employee favorite section were; Aliens, The Fugitive, It, The Joy Luck Club, Robin Hood, Prince of Thieves, Tombstone & When Harry Met Sally.
  
• Other favorites that are still new releases in video stores are:The Rock, One Fine Day, Sabrina, Phenomenon & Happy Gilmore (Give it a chance!).
  
• His favorite female actors are: Michelle Pfeiffer, Nicole Kidman & Meg Ryan.
  
• His favorite male actors are:Tim Robbins, Nicholas Cage, Harrison Ford, Tommy Lee Jones, Val Kilmer & Christian Slater.
  
• Some good movies that may still be theatres are: Shine, FaceOff & Con-Air.
  
• Aside from movies, he enjoys settling down and reading a good book. His favorites are the Dragonlance Series. His favorite authors are Margaret Weis & Tracy Hickmann.
• He was also caught reading Robertson Davies "The Deptford Trilogies".

Music Information:

• He loves listening to the radio station Z95.3 FM.
  
• His favorite female singers are: Mariah Carey, Celine Dion, Monica, Whigfield & Madonna.
• His favorite male singers are: Robert Miles, Phil Collins & Richard Marx.
  
• His favorite groups are: La Bouche, No Mercy, East 17, Take That, The Real Mccoy, Erasure, Savage Garden & Ace of Base
  
• He enjoys listening to chinese music. He thinks that Vivian Chow is a babe.
• He will have Classical phases and listen to Rachmaninoff, Beethoven & Chopin.
• He is currently learning the Piano Concerto No. 2 in C- by Rachmaninoff. The 3rd Concerto in D- is his next major project. Another work he is polishing up on is the Waldstein Sonata by Beethoven.
  
• He has just started learning the violin on his own. This has inspired him to begin work on a piece for two violins. The theme is strongly influenced by the Pachebel's Cannon in D.
  

Gourmet Information:

• After working in a fast food restaurant for 1 year, he urges everyone not to eat at an A&W restaurant. (Sorry! I feel like a traitor to A&W!)
  
• He believes that the best place for good quality fast food at a reasonable price is Wendy's.
  
• He ranks A&W over McDonald's. However, he enjoys the McDonald's Quarter Cheese burger over the A&W Teen Burger.
  
• He enjoys mainly Chinese Food.
  
• He also enjoys Japanese, Italian & anything interesting (anything that is edible).
  

Sports Information:

• He enjoys rollerblading, hockey, tennis, badminton & jogging.
  
• During the hockey season, he will be glued to television watching most (if not all) Canuck simulcast. He will also watch Sportspage every night during the hockey season.
  
• Pool is also considered as a favorite pastime with friends.
  

Television Information:

• He enjoys a wide variety of television shows from slapstick comedies to suspense.
• X-Files, Star Trek (DS9, Voyager, TNG), Friends, Seinfeld and The Simpsons are his favorites.
  
• Also, due to a short break before summer classes start, he stumbled onto a silly little cartoon, Sailor Moon. Once seeing an episode, he couldn't stop laughing at the storyline. He has been hooked on the television show since. Sadly enough, he has become obsessed with Sailor Mars, one of the sailor scouts in the program.
  

Future Goals:

His dream car is the 1995 Honda Prelude.


When he finishes with his education, he wants to find a job that will make tons of money.


He hopes to achieve this by becoming a doctor.


Aside from his primary career, he hopes to use his music skills to pursue a second career.


Once he is settled (married, owns a house and free from his parents), he hopes to travel the world with his significant other before starting a family.

Criminal Information:

He has never been involved in any serious criminal activity in his life.


He has never aided nor assisted terrorists in any way to his gain.
